In the Sun Remake Jessica and Fiona

How did we make our video look professional?
One of the ways that we made our footage look professional was by using a fig rig as well as a tripod. This helped hold shots steady when we needed to take shots of the camera moving and we did not want it wobbling about as we did this.

Another way we made our footage look professional was by doing lip syncing. This is a key element to a music video as it shows the audience who is actually meant to be producing the words when performing and it makes the video more interesting and professional.

We also added choreography to the video based on the original professional video by Him and Her. This is a good idea when making a music video because dance choreography will make the video more interesting to watch compared to watching people just standing and lip syncing towards the camera.

Another part that made this video more professional was the slow motion shots. These shots were filmed with a setting used on the camera called slow motion filming. This makes everything that was filmed in a normal pace turn out in slow motion. These shots were strong and very effective in the music video.

Finally, we ensured that the whole music video had continuity, which gave it a nice flow.

What troubles did you come across when filming that made your music video less professional?

Some of the shots were hard for us to film because of health and safety standards, for example the aerial shot scene in the gym hall. Also we had some trouble with the dancers and lip synching performers getting out of shot, and on some ocasions with the lip synchers not being in time with the music. It was hard to edit as we were not able to pin point the exact place for the problem.

When setting up the library we were aware that we were not able to fit in as many chairs as we wanted to because of the space restrictions. This meant that there was less room for the dancers to move and made the shot look cramped with everyone huddled together.

When editing the all the clips together I found out that I was not able to fit the close up of the guitar into the time line as there was not another time slot in the line in which to place. This meant that there was just one constant shot leading to the end. However, the shot which we left at the end makes it flow smoothly.

What Worked Well?

What worked well was how when editing the shots together we were able to give it continuity.

Another positive part were the shots that were filmed on slow paced filming. These worked out well because they fitted into the music video in a positive way.

Most of the choreography looked really strong as did the editing at the end.

The lighting in the library scene was effective as it put the spot light on the people which the audience was meant to be looking at focused upon.

Even Better If?

What would make this even better would be to have even more lip synching, where there were lyrics playing in the song.

It would also have been better to test out the spacing area of where the shot is going to be filmed to make sure that there is enough space for the number of tables that are needed in each shot for it to work. (e.g the tables in the library scene)
