This image above shows how many participants took part in our survey and how many of them were males and females. The viewer can see from the results that more females took part in comparison to males. The graph below shows the age range of the survey participants. Most of the audience that took part were aged 13 to 18. This helps to show who are main target audience are.
The red graph show what the audiences favourite genre of music is. As the viewer can a huge number of people listen to Indie Rock. The result that we got for people who liked to listen to Disco pop were 9 people in total. However, this is just out of the people who we asked. If we asked the whole population or smaller the whole of our school I am sure we would of gotten a stronger number of people who listen to Dance Pop.
We then decided to openly question the participants and ask them " what would they like to see in a music video?" We got a range of replies from this question. The other question we asked the audience was "What do you expect to see in a Disco Pop music video?" Again our results were mixed as people have different opinions on what they would like to see.
In the first graph we asked the audience "Would they want to see a narrative in a Disco Pop video?" The results were close for this, but the result that won was the answer No. The next question we asked were "In adverts and music videos for disco pop, would you rather see low key lighting or the artists own style?" The vote that won was the artist own style.
The purple pie chart shows the result for the question which we asked the participants " What you rather see, The artist taking on a fictional role or close ups of the actual artist themselves performing or both." The stronger result that we got from this was the answer "both." The blue pie chart shows the results to the question "After watching a music video do you then go and buy/download the single or album?" The higher result is "sometimes." Then orange pie chart was based on the question "What location would you rather see in a disco pop music video?" The dominant answer that we got from this was "Unconventional locations." This will be an exciting idea for our work as we begin to explore the different uncoventional locations that we could use for our song.
This line chart shows the results for the number of daily responses we got on our questionnaire.

Three Album Adverts
When analysing this music poster the audience can see that
the mise-en-scene reflects the stereo typical view on Pop music. What I mean by
this is that pop music is associated as being up-beat and happy and uses bright
colours as well as high key lighting and also very expressive with its lyrics.
The bright pink used in the title represents to the audience the mischievous
attitude of Katy Perry. This also shows how pop can be pursued in this genre.
The use of prop in this advert portrays an innocent impression to it such as
the paddling pool, rubber duck and the lolly pop. With the use of these props she is attracting
her who is young civilians. These props and her clothing portray a young girl
wanting to have fun. The clothing worn by Katy Perry is quite revealing but it
does not make her look inappropriate. She has shown the mischievous attitude
through the clothing which associates itself
with the title of the song “I Kissed A Girl.” The facial expression makes the
audience feel that she is unapproachable and is hiding something from us. The
other body language that contributes to this is the hand hidden behind the
back.
The second advert that I am going to analyse is the Britney
Spears Poster for her album called the “Circus”. The mise- en- scene of this
poster is set inside a circus tent; this contributes to the title of the album.
The font and title colouring used in this poster represents different things to
the audience such as the bright colours used could portray the liveliness and the
fun of the circus. The colours could also represent to the audience the
dangerous and flirtatious attitude that Britney Spears brings to her music. The
outfit that she is wearing links in with the theme of her cover and has a few
stereo typical characteristics of this the performers in the outfit such as the
stripes from the mime artists and the top hat which is normally seen on a ring
master. The facial expression on her face makes the audience feel that she is
an approachable person and the body jester that she is positioned in makes us
feel that she is welcoming us into her circus.
The third advert I am going to analyse is one for the singer
Kesha. This advert is selling a remix song which includes her as one of the
artists. The mise-en-scene background which the artist is standing in front of
is a plain white brick wall. This colour matches the same colour in her top. On
her top it had a skeleton rib cage print.
It makes her leather jacket stand out in the picture to the audience
along with the biker gloves. The outfit give off a rebellious appearance like
she does not care how she looks or what people think of her. The rebellion is
shown in the poster is with the torn edge between the black right hand side of
the poster with the information on and the picture of her. As well as the torn
edge, on top of the image the audience can see stitches. High key lighting is
used to make the artist stand out in the poster. There is red text used on the
other side to inform the audience about this remix song. The red could
represent her dangerous personality. The white font which her name is in is the
same texture and colour as the background which the artist is standing in front
of. The facial expression that she has in this poster does not make her look
friendly and approachable.

Genre Research 1
The sub genre that I am exploring in Pop is Dance pop. What I have noticed from this mood board is that in Dance pop videos the creators use alot of effects and make up is warn in an extreme way. Also, the costumes are not an every day what people would wear but an over the top style outfit that is in the fashion of the artist. Bright colour can sometimes be used in the videos. Dancing and lights are also used to get the high key lighting and the Genre stand out andare obvious to the audience who are watching it. The colours used in the shots interact and combine with each other and expression with the music.

Low Budget Ideas
When watching these low budget Music Videos that A2 students had made I realise that a key technique that gets used when creating them is the technique called Cutting. This helps create a Jump Cut from one location to another. The cuts also help keep the pace in time with the music. This has the same importance as the lip synching. The reason for this is because if the lip synching is not in time with the music then it looks out of place and baffling towards the viewer watching it. However, if the lip synching looks over exaggerated then it looks over the top and a bit extreme for someone singing. An example of this is the A2 video called “Hot n Cold.”. The locations play a big role in the music video as they can be representing a meaning towards the audience this way. The costumes and props also help in the music video because they help complement the location and for the props it helps draw attention to an object. However, if it is a boy band the costumes help show the audience that they are all together with the identical outfits. An example of this is the A2 Video called “Just Got Paid.” The lighting and effect also help as they set a mood and emotion to the music video. An example of this is of the A2 video “Rolling in the Deep” where they showed that the effect they used was to represent the emotion which she is feeling. The other effect that they used in this video is called fading. This effect can be a way of creating cut between scenes and make the video seem interesting in another way.
